Bradway Action Group

The Bradway Action Group (BAG) represents the community of Bradway in Sheffield. It was set up in 2003 to raise awareness within the community on matters of local interest, to provide a forum for the debate of local issues, to facilitate communication between the community of Bradway and any authority influencing its affairs, and to improve the environment in Bradway and the facilities available to the local community.
BAG has established itself with Sheffield City Council as a group that tries to speak for the interests of Bradway.
Through a combination of fund-raising and lobbying, many facilities have been obtained for Bradway, including extra litter bins and dog-waste bins, and planters outside the shops.
Most significantly, in the first three years of BAG’s existence, enough money was raised from voluntary contributions, and from grants and awards, to put a playground for young children onto the Old School Field, an area of open green space in the centre of Bradway. Thanks to the generosity of the City Council’s Children and Young People’s Directorate, an all-weather five-a-side and cricket pitch was also obtained for the Field, which is now a flourishing community facility.
BAG continues to work for Bradway. In particular, there is an emphasis on protecting open space and community buildings, and resisting inappropriate development.
